Fruit Source 100% Fruit Bars from Sun-Rype
Monday, June 30th, 2008
I’ve often used the Sun-Rype 100% juices and Fruit to Go products for my son’s school lunches so when I decided to test some of the other items I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed.
There are several varieties available from the FruitSource line. While I haven’t tried the Mini Bites yet, I did try the other offerings. The regular FruitSource bars come in Cherry Berry and Strawberry as well as a new flavor, and my favorite, Blueberry Pomegranate. The FruitSource Plus Veggie bars come in Wildberry, Tropical and Raspberry flavors.
The texture is soft and pliable and the taste is terrific. The best part is that they don’t contain artifical ingredients such as flavorings and food color. These bars and bites are made from 100% real fruit. The bars are also a good source of potassium and provide 2 of your daily fruit and veggie servings.
Although Sun-Rype is a Canadian company, based in BC’s Okanagan Valley, you can find the bars throughout North America.
Sometimes we go on impromptu day trips. If I don’t have any homemade bars or fruit snacks I will definitely consider using these products to supplement our trail food.

I was determined that I was never going through the trials of writing another cookbook yet here I am again. I have to admit it isn’t much like work for me—it is my passion. Creating recipes for trail food isn’t without challenges but it is worth the effort, especially when it comes to having tasty meals on longer backcountry trips.
My first memories of car camping included roasting marshmallows and making S’mores long after us kids should have been in bed. I even included my favorite, Raspberry S’mores, in my cookbook.
