honey — not just for cooking

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Recently I was reading an article named Paper Cut? Try Honey for Faster Healing Study Says from CTV MedNews Express.

We’ve always used honey on minor cuts and scrapes with great success and it is neat to read about some of the research being done about this. The article does warn that honey isn’t effective on serious cuts or burns but it might be helpful to keep some with your trail food to speed the healing on minor wounds.

some BIG news…

On Friday, while camping in Ontario’s beautiful Algonquin Provincial Park, I received an email on my BlackBerry. Now I don’t normally look at my Blackberry but it is a new toy and we were expecting guests who were extremely late, so I kept it on.

My publisher emailed me and told me that my new cookbook, Another Fork in the Trail, is going to be released in Spring 2010. I am over the moon and it was fitting to receive the news while relaxing among the fall colors in one of my favorite settings.

The contracts arrived yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. The next hurdle is to actually finish testing the recipes and complete the manuscript. Thankfully this is my passion and does not feel like work at all.
